Lane has learned that sending me in to the liquor store by myself is dangerous. I get talked in to things. I get intrigued by new flavors. I usually come out with a big long receipt. And occasionally I leave half of what I purchased in the shopping cart and he has to go back up to the store to get it. 🤦🏻♀️ But that is how we ended up with the pumpkin spice Moscow mule.
Btw, I did legit leave half of our purchase in a shopping cart once. Apparently a fight broke out in the parking lot over who could steal it. Luckily the store folks intervened and saved our beer and Lane was able to go back and claim it.
I bought some pumpkin flavored vodka. And man, was it ever way too sweet. So, I knew it couldn’t be paired with something like pecan pie cider (one of my fav drinks), or made into some kind of apple cider cocktail. After a lot of deliberation, I came up with a delicious solution:
Ginger beer and lime juice.
Perfection in a glass. Thus the pumpkin spice Moscow mule was brought to our home and it is amazing. I highly recommend it for any and all fall cocktail needs. The ginger beer and the lime juice balance out the pumpkin vodka, and the pumpkin vodka adds just enough sweetness to the beer and lime. Plus ginger gives you all the fall flavors.
And since ginger is healthy for you, I’m going to go ahead and assume this cocktail is healthy too…right? Maybe on Thanksgiving, after you’ve had too much turkey and dressing and mac and cheese and potatoes and pie you need a little something to help with digestion. And maybe a little something to forget all the inappropriate, unsolicited advice your 3rd aunt twice removed has been giving you. If so, this ginger spice Moscow mule is for you, friend.
No recipe notes, its really just mixing vodka with ginger beer and squeezing in some lime. Just a word to the wise, make sure you get the least sweet ginger beer you can find. I like the Q Ginger Beer brand: Q Ginger Beer, Premium Ginger Beer: Real Ingredients & Less Sweet, 7.5 Fl oz, 24 Cans
